Welcome

Sometimes in life we may find ourselves needing some help.

Perhaps you are struggling to deal with something from your past;

are finding it hard to cope with the day-to-day

or are looking to live a more fulfilled life.

Whatever your need is, having someone to talk to, who is separate from your friends and/or family, can be just what is needed.

This is where therapy can help.

I am a fully qualified therapist with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer individual therapy for adults (18+) both online and in-person, in South West London.

Whilst clients come to me for many different reasons, I often work with professionals (due to my own background as a qualified accountant), those going through major life changes, those struggling with loss including bereavement or individuals managing long term health conditions.

Meet Charlotte

Hi, I’m Charlotte

In response to a need for self-discovery, meaning and purpose I embarked on my journey to become a therapist, completing my Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling from the Psychosynthesis and Education Trust in London.

My previous career was as a qualified accountant working in different industries including Banking and Tech. Therefore, I have first-hand experience of the difficulties faced by those working in the corporate sector and high-pressure environments.

I truly believe and am passionate about how this work can empower others to lead more fulfilling lives. My own experience of being in therapy has shown me the deep benefit of feeling truly seen, heard and understood, and how life-enhancing that can be. This is something I seek to offer to you and it would be my privilege to be a part of your journey.

Before beginning my own practice, I worked in a counselling service supporting individuals with a range of issues.

I work with individuals online or in-person at multiple locations in London including Clapham, London Bridge and Wimbledon (see FAQs for location details).

My Approach

My approach is an integrative one, meaning that I use a number of approaches when working with clients (including Psychoanalysis, Humanistic and Transpersonal psychology). I believe that one size does not fit all and so my approach offers flexibility to suit you as an individual and your individual needs. I will support you not only to explore how your history may be impacting your present-day life, but also to look forward to a more purposeful and meaningful future.

I see therapy as a collaborative process so developing a strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work.

As your therapist, my role is not to provide you with the answers, but instead to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for self-exploration. With the increased awareness developed through our work together, comes the opportunity for more choice and the possibility for change and personal growth.

FAQs

How can therapy support me?

Many of us have little or no experience of being listened to deeply and without judgement. The people we are closest to have their own opinions, agendas and wishes, and we may want to protect them or fear being rejected if we show our true selves.

Therapy offers a safe space just for you to reflect on and talk about your experiences and feelings with a trained professional. Your therapist can support and accompany you to explore ways to manage your distress and help you in moving forward.

How can I book an initial consultation?

To book an initial consultation please call Charlotte on 07396 810749, use the contact form, or send an email to charlottecrosslandtherapy@gmail.com sharing your availability and whether you’d like online or in-person therapy.

What can I expect from the initial consultation?

Your initial consultation gives you the opportunity to explain your situation and to find your feet in the therapeutic environment. This might be your first experience of speaking to someone completely independent, and I want you to be able to feel comfortable and understand fully how therapy can help you.

That’s why in our first session we will cover:

  • What’s brought you to therapy
  • Your background
  • Your hopes for attending therapy
  • Our working agreement

This is the perfect time to see if we are a good fit for one another. There is no pressure to begin regular therapy beyond this point. If either of us feels we are not the right fit for any reason, I will endeavour to refer you to an alternative therapist.

I have decided to start regular therapy following my initial consultation, what next?

Should you wish to start regular therapy following your initial consultation, we will meet for 50-minutes on a weekly basis. It is important to note that this will be at the same time and on the same day as our initial consultation unless agreed otherwise. This is to provide consistency, structure and helps to create a safe container for the work.

I usually ask that you commit to 6 further sessions, at which point we will have a review to see how you are finding our work together and whether you’d like to continue working with an open-ended agreement or for a fixed number of sessions. Of course, you can also decide to end therapy.

How long does therapy last?

I ask that you commit to 6 sessions i.e. 6 weeks following the initial consultation. At this point we will have a review to reflect on where we are at. You can decide whether you would like to continue working together for a fixed number of sessions or in an open ended agreement. Of course, you can decide at any time that you’re ready to end therapy.

How long are sessions and how often are they?

Sessions (including the initial consultation) last for 50 minutes and take place on a weekly basis.

What is the fee and how do I pay for my session?

The fee for each session is £90. This is payable in advance by BACS transfer. Bank details will be provided ahead of your initial consultation. You may pay weekly the day before your session, or monthly in advance if you prefer.

Where can I have in-person therapy with you?

I offer in-person therapy at the following locations (Monday to Friday):

  • Clapham (6 Northcote Road, SW11 1NT or 76 Battersea Rise, SW11 1EH or 2 Lion Yard, Tremadoc Road, Clapham, SW4 7NQ)
  • London Bridge (92-94 Tooley Street, SE1 2TH)
  • Wimbledon (40-44 The Broadway, London, SW19 1RQ)

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch
